Artist

       For thirty years Jonathan has composed, written, performed, instructed, directed, produced, funded and introduced creative music, books and ideas to his generation.  With ten symphonies, five books and hundreds of songs to his credit, he continues to be a prolific force from his home in Hendersonville, Tennessee and position as in-house composer of the Sumner County Symphony.

 Author

       Jonathan continues to pulse his times with a heart of a poet and the mind of the working man.

 Advocate

       As a Renaissance man with a twinge of Reformation, Mr. Cring is energized in philanthropic work, including the Topper Program and as a spokesman for initiating a return to the gospel of Jesus in total practicality. Incorporating improvisational humor with poignant statements, he takes an audience on a journey into their own hearts to rediscover the souls of their youth and dreams.

Brevity

       It is not just the soul of wit, but in our day and age, an essential for communication and survival.  Janethan, as a team, are cognizant of the importance of each moment and use their power-packed presentations, always sensitive to the time constraints in which we live in this day and age. For instance, all of the concerts of the Sumner County Symphony are performed in less than one hour. No less entertainment or impact—just less filler. 

Biblical

       Mr. Cring and Ms. Scott do not believe that radical thinking is achieved by chucking the baby with the bath water, but rather, by capturing the initial energy promoted in the Bible when words were first spoken.  Just imagine how truly comical the statement “the blind leading the blind” was upon first delivery.  The Bible is not outdated, just misrepresented. 

Beautiful

       As it says in their byline, beauty is the essence of expression needed in our time.  Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights.  Mr. Cring and Ms. Scott believe we have become observers of grotesque ugliness in the medium under the guise of “reporting realism”.  If the world is ugly, perhaps it is our mission not to report it, but instead, beautify it through music and mission.

Conductor

       Janet Clazzy Scott is the conductor of the Sumner County Symphony—the only female prima conductor in the state of Tennessee.  A concert oboist and consummate professional, she brings twenty-five years of talent and experience to the stage.  SCS is one of the more innovative orchestras in the country, performing only original American-bred music fostered by living composers. 

Creative

       Creative means to create.  Ms. Scott is no stranger to the creation process.  She creates the finest tone ever heard on the oboe.  She created a new stage set, where the orchestra and conductor are turned around to face the audience.  She created a symphony orchestra in a county formerly known for country music.  She created a family, with three fine sons.  And she created a partnership with Mr. Cring, which continues to evolve into deeper and deeper expressions of beauty. 

Charisma

       In a world of stuffed shirts, cumber bunds, and fastidious pickiness, Ms. Scott emerges as a friendly, caring, compassionate, and giving artist and performer.  Taking the “ic” out of classical, but keeping the “class” in, will be perhaps one of her greatest accomplishments.  Audiences love her because she takes them on a musical journey where they have never been before without ever making them feel like lesser fellows.
